Job Description

Onward Search Education is a specialized education staffing and talent solutions company that helps educators, therapists, and school health professionals find top jobs with the nation's top schools. We’re partnering with a school district in Providence County, RI to hire a dedicated School Social Worker (Middle-High School, Long-Term Substitute) for the remainder of the 2025–2026 school year. This full-time position provides support to students across middle and high school grades, helping address social, emotional, and behavioral needs.

This role provides an opportunity to support student well-being, collaborate with school staff and families, and implement interventions that foster a positive school environment.

Position Details:

  • Location: In-person, Providence County, RI
  • Hours: Full-time
  • Assignment Duration: ASAP through March 27, 2026

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group counseling to students to address social, emotional, and behavioral needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and support staff to create and implement intervention plans.
  • Assist in crisis management and develop strategies to support students’ safety and well-being.
  • Connect students and families with community resources and support services.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with school and district policies.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and ongoing trainings.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) with appropriate Rhode Island licensure or certification.
  • Rhode Island School Social Worker license, or eligibility to obtain (meets all requirements and able to apply).
  • Experience working with middle and high school students.
  • Knowledge of counseling strategies, behavioral interventions, and social-emotional learning practices.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethical standards.
