Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Telemetry to provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a telemetry unit. The RN will be responsible for monitoring cardiac rhythms, administering medications, performing advanced clinical procedures, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitor, interpret, and document cardiac telemetry rhythms
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to medical-surgical and telemetry patients
- Perform IV insertions and phlebotomy according to clinical protocols
- Administer medications, including those related to conscious sedation, per policy
- Assess patient condition, recognize changes, and initiate appropriate interventions
- Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary care teams
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Educate patients and families on care plans, procedures, and discharge instructions
- Adhere to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards
Required Skills & Experience
- One (1) year of Medical/Surgical nursing experience
- One (1) year of Telemetry nursing experience
- Two (2) years of IV insertion and phlebotomy experience
- Two (2) years of Conscious Sedation experience
Preferred Skills & Experience
Education Requirements
Required:
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN or ADN) from an accredited nursing program
Preferred:
Certifications & Licensure
Required:
- Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License
- Primary Source Verification of RN license and registration from the New York State Department of Education (NYSED)
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS)
- American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
Preferred:
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the shift
- Ability to lift and reposition patients as required
- Manual dexterity for IV insertion and clinical procedures
Work Environment
- Acute care hospital telemetry unit
- Fast-paced, high-acuity clinical environment
